Where is AJNS located?
We are based in Long Island and will travel within both counties. If you live outside that area and are interested in our services, contact us. A travel fee may apply.
What will a session look like?
During the virtual 45 minute consultation, you will explain the space(s) you are interested in organizing as well describing life style, wants, and needs. Every space is different so there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Together we will create a plan using our 4 steps approach to organizing in order to make the space everything you want. Larger updates require two visits in order to get accurate measurements and products for the project (shelves, bins, storage units). Don’t be surprised if you get some homework to complete before in-between sessions.
How do you charge for a project?
After the initial 45 minute free virtual consultation the rate is $75/hour. Each booked session operates on an hourly basis, with a 3 hour minimum for each day. Shopping services are also available for an additional fee. Product purchased by AJNS are a direct reimbursement on final invoice.
What is included in a session?
Hands-on purging recommendations, organizing advice, sorting, measuring and placement. We also assist in removal of unwanted items (one load per session), scheduling of donations if needed, and follow-up phone or email consolation.
How long will it take?
Each situation is unique. Determining factors include the amount of clutter there is, how quickly you can make decisions and how much product in needed to purchase. We match our pace to your pace, never rushing through tough decisions, but moving forward in an efficient manner. The process will go faster if you are willing to do the homework between sessions.
Will I need to buy a bunch of expensive organizing product?
There are options. We can find solutions for your space using the products you already own or offer a variety of products to match all styles and budgets. You can choose to purchase the items yourself or have us shop for an additional fee. Product purchased by AJNS are a direct reimbursement on final invoice.
I’ve never been able to stay organized before, how I do know it will work this time?
We will work with you to customize a system that fits your individual needs. We will try to identify the habits that have sabotaged your organizing efforts in the past, and provide guidance on what is needed to maintain the new systems.
Do I need to be there while you organize?
It’s helpful to be there along side the organizer as we start the process in order to get an idea of what your wants and needs are. While you can wait for the big reveal, you are encouraged to be a part of the reorganizing in order to learn the strategies and techniques behind the systems.
Are you going to throw all my stuff away?
No… But… you will be required to take a close look at your at your items asking yourself a series of questions. Purging can be difficult and we are respectful of the process. Just because an item may not fit into the mold of a different category doesn't mean we can’t find a new space for it.
What do I do with all my donations?
If you don’t want to spend the time researching where to donate your used items, we can help. We have curated a list of local organizations that will accept your goods. We can drop them off for you or arrange for a donation pick-up (regular hourly rates apply).
Will you clean my house?
A Joyful New Space is a professional home organizing service. Aside from the wipe downs of the surfaces we are working on, we do not clean houses.
Do you help with moves?
Moving is a perfect time to hire AJNS to help. We can be there from beginning to end. We will purge before packing and then unpacking in your new home to find the best new spaces for your all your prized possessions.
Are you going to think I’m a slob?
No, absolutely not. Accumulating treasures and possessions is very common thing… And EVERYONE does it. We want to help you find the things that add value to your life, and help establish a more happy and healthy lifestyle.
Do you offer Gift Certificates?
Yes, for two hours of service and up. Please be cautious and discuss hiring a professional organizer with the intended recipient so you are certain they will appreciate the gift as much as you hope they will. Contact for more details.
